Osteopath BSc (Ost) M.R.O
I qualified from the British School of Osteopathy in 1993 after having completed its 4 year BSc degree course.
This was the first school and year to begin a degree rather than the previous D.O or Diploma in Osteopathy .
I established the Totteridge & Whetstone Osteopathic Clinic in 1994 and in 2003 took over the First Alternative Health Centre ,Eastcote (a multidiscipline practice offering a wide variety of treatments). This is the practice where I started my career in 1993. I also worked in Winchmore hill for 10 years.
I believe in treating the whole patient rather than just the symptoms and try to establish the body's equilibrium and therefore the individual's health. I do this by using conventional Osteopathic techniques and gentler Cranial methods.
I believe that an individual's environment can have a bearing and impact on their health and well being and endeavour to offer advice in order to reduce this.
I was registered with the voluntary GCRO (General Council and Register of Osteopaths) until the establishment of the GOsC (General Osteopathic Council). The GOsC is the statutory body established in 1999 by the Osteopathic act in 1993 to ensure that all Osteopaths are Qualified and of good standing.I have been a full member of the GOsC since 1999.

Osteopathy is a system of treatment that concentrates on the Musculoskeletal system.( the bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and connective tissues of the body ) and the way that this interacts and effects the body as a whole. It is based on the philosophies and teachings of A.T Still , the founder of Osteopathy in C19th.
Contrary to popular belief even though we are very renowned for it we don't just treat backs.(see "what do we treat ?")
Osteopaths diagnose and treat faults that may arise due to stress ,injury and disease. These may be brought about through daily activities, sport, posture or work.
We endevour though our treatments to enable the musculoskeletal system to work as efficiently as possible thus allowing the body to restore itself to normal function.
In essence we are involved in tuning the body.
A consultation will also involve advise on maintaining a healthy balance in the body. This may be through stretches, exercises and or postural advice specifically tailored to the individual.
The Craniosacral system comprises the bones of the Spine, Skull and the face, and the membrane system which connects them to the rest of the body. It is a hydraulic system centred on the cerebro-spinal fluid, that is the fluid the Brain produces to provide itself with nutrient.
How does treatment differ from conventional Osteopathy? Craniosacral Therapy uses a light touch to balance the tensions within the membrane system and control the flow of cerebro-spinal fluid throughout the system. This clears the way for our self healing mechanisms to be more effective and to be more able to self correct .
Problems that Craniosacral Therapy helps :
Chronic pain .
Reduced mobility or "stiff joints" .
Low Energy .
Headaches . Migraines .Jaw (TMJ) problems .
Menstrual/menopausal problems .
In Babies :
Glue Ear .
Feeding & Sleeping problems
